Pump & Micro Bubbles

I currently have a LifeReef LF1-150 set up on my (newer) tank. I have noticed that the return pump (little giant 4-MDQX-SC) spitting micro bubbles in my tank at an increased rate. When I turn off the skimmer and hear just the return, it sounds as if it is sucking air in with the water, but it is not coming from the sump, and there are no leaks so I am assuming it would not be coming from the pipe connections. Has anyone ever experienced this? Could it be coming from inside the pump and a sign of failure? Any suggestions as to a remedy?

It could be the plumbing, a pinhole leak will pull in air but never create an actual leak. Can you post pic's of your setup under the tank also please.

Cheers,

I will grab a shot later tonight when i get home. I am thinking I will try and rub some silicone around four joints between the sump and pump, thinking that they would be the problem child since if it was after the pump it would leak out and not suck air.

It can be after the pump and still draw in air(venturi). Did this start after putting in the new skimmer? Your pump could be being starved and cavitating also, do you have the input restricted, what diameter piping are you using?

Hey guys I just wanted to update yall on this. I called the pump manufacture and he said that the pump is moving so much water that it is causing it to cavitate, and suggested that I install a ball valve after the pump and turn it down 25%. Well, after installing a valve, it is CRYSTAL CLEAR. Hopefully no one else has this problem, but if you do maybe this info will be useful!
