Puffer fish pandamonia?!

I just started a predator tank after breaking down my reef tank. I purchased a very large porcupine puffer fish. He is probably a little under 2 ft. Seriously a good size. Well he decided to get stuck to a pump by his eye... I found him completely inflated. I shut the pump off and he released himself. His eye took longer to unswell but all swelling is gone. It's been a week and the skin around his eye orbit has sluffed off to white. His eye is cloudy grey. I have treated him with melefix and brightwell's multivitamin soaked squid (his favorite food). I'm not sure he can see anything out of it but the retina is still intact and he is able to move it. I've also left the lights off.

I feel like I Should I be doing more. What else can I do for my favorite fish? Will it heal? Or at least will his skin color-up?
Please help I've researched all my resources, I would highly appreciate some direction and wisdom of all of you advanced aquarist. Will post pics soon.

as with any fish injury you should give it time to heal. I wouldn't worry too much as long as he is eating well and can at least locate food on his own. I would continue to feed him vitamin enriched foods and see how it goes from there. Getting stuck in a pump can cause serious injury. As you wait for the injures to heal i would look into putting better safe guards against future incidences. Puffers aren't very strong swimmers. If possible can you give us an idea of what kind of flow you have in your tank.
