protein skimmer fine bubbles

I have a Euro-Reef RS Series Skimmer that I've been running for about 2 weeks now and it's putting out tons of fine bubbles. I had to stop using it for a little while and when I started it up again I've got nothing but bubbles. It was running just fine before.
What's up with it?

Hi,

It may just need to break in again ... that would be my first guess. The bubbles should start to subside after a week or so. :)

Cheers,

Are you saying bubbles are coming out of the return and back into the tank? Do you have pictures?
I sounds like it just broke in and fine bubbles is what you want.

Yes that's exactly what's happening. Very fine tiny bubbles coming into the tank. The skimmer is in my sump and when I add more water it bubbles even more. I thought it would have stopped by now. Is this ok for the fish? Everyone seems to be doing fine. Just worried.
Thanks for your help!

Bubbles are fine, it's not appealing to us but the ocean has bubbles too.
Do you have some pictures of your sump. There may be a way to stop the bubbles.

Nothing to worry about really... try putting your return pump as far away from the output of the skimmer as possible. You may consider getting a filter sock to go over the output. While these need to be cleaned on a regular basis, they are effective at reducing/eliminating micro-bubbles. Take a photo or describe your sump as well, most sumps have bubble baffles built into them to help this problem. These are pieces of acrylic or glass about 1/2 or so apart in an over/under/over (water flow) configuration that forces water to move up and down in order to get the bubbles to rise and break.
