Porcupine puffer ich?

About 3 weeks ago I noticed my porcupine puffer had white spot on his body and fin. I suspected that might be ich and immediately set up a QT with treated him with coopersafe. Within days the white spots were gone. But just to be safe I treated hime a full three weeks.

Two days after I put hime back to the main tank, I noticed the white spots again. I put him back to the QT. Within minutes, the white spot on his body were gone. I waited a few more days then put him back to the main thank again. White spots shows up immediately!!!!

I pulled him out again and within minutes in the QT, the white spots disappeared.

Can ick be killed while on the fish body? Are those really ick or something else? Any idea what those may be?

All my other fishes in the main tank are fine.

Please help.

Hi,

I am pretty sure that you shouldn't use copper based med's on a puffer. Since they do not have scale's it's super hard on them and can easily be overdosed.

Cheers,

The spots could be micro bubbles sticking to his surface. That fools a few people into thinking Ick.

DennisF - That's what I was thinking but it sure looks like ick.

Maybe I should have gone hypo. But I was setting up the QT in a hurry worrying that any delay may cause an outbreak in the main tank. Fortunately, my puffer is very active and hugry- he begs for food everything I walk close.

Thanks for all the resposne.
