Pom Pom Crab

I am considering getting one of these little guys for my nano. I have seen them in a few picos and I really like the way they look. Has anyone had any experience with one, good or bad? I don't have any anemones or any fish for that matter, just a few softies.

I forgot to mention but I plan on getting a clam sometime in the near future. Are clams safe with crabs? I have heard some people saying that they never put crabs in their tanks because they cause too much trouble. I just wanted to know what other people thought. I was going to order it online.

I've had one for about 8 months now in my 24gal, and he's been doing great. I used to see him more, before I got a new Peppermint Shrimp (after the other one croaked), but he still lurks around. I've only had 1 problem with him, and that was when he zinged a curious Flame Angel in the mouth (wasn't my fish, just babysitting).
I actually thought I lost him twice, because when he molts it usually comes off whole, so it looks like his corpse is floating along the bottom!
When he is out and around, I love to watch him react to the fish around him, the way he waves his 'nems around at them, and kind of does a 'Haaaaay.... hooooo...... haaaay.....hooooo" arm wave when he's trying to catch food out of the current.
I've found that mine doesn't like target feeding, he's way independant. What surprised me was that he'll use his 'nems to pick stuff up off of the ground, not just out of the current. He'll even eat drifting bits of algea (but not pick it right off of the reef!).

All in all, I really dig mine, he looks cool, and is fun to watch. And the best part: he isn't a problem! I highly recomend one.

PS: pmake sure your tank ins't an aggressive one.

Do you think that one would cause any trouble with a hermit crab? I had two, but one day I noticed one chomping on the other one and that was the end of it. I've got a few snails too. I know that they aren't very aggressive, but I kind of like my hermit. He eats all the hair algae, and does a really good job at it. I might be willing to part with him if I have to in order to make room for the pom pom, but who will eat all the algae that the snails don't get? I have also read that the anemones in the pom poms claws could sting other corals. Right now I am just stocking my tank with corals. I am just doing some research on things that I am considering adding later. I want everything to be perfect when I do finally add my fish and inverts.

I've got lots of hermits, and them and the pom-pom never seem to even notice each other. I've also never seen his little nems sting anything but that one fish. All of my soft corals are blemish free. Perhaps it is because he is prety reclusive, I don't know. GIve him a try. If he doiesn't work out, I know someone that will take him.
