Plumbing

I'm in the planning stages of rebuilding my system. I have a 120GL RR. It has been up and running with me for about 9 months and previous to me for a year or so I believe. It has a sump on it now but most likely I will be switching it to a larger sump when I rebuild. I was going to go with PVC to plumb the system, but then i saw a few posts somewhere that said that flex is better. Which brings me to which one would be better, PVC or flex? My system is noisey now so I'm hoping to quiet it down some.

Thanks
Steph

Most prefer pvc, I think (look at the build logs). It keeps things nice and tidy and lasts longer. Flex tubing will create less head loss as the bends in the plumbing are minimized. It really is your preference as both get the water from point A-B. If it's simple flex works well. If not you don't want a bunch of flex hoses all over the place cluttering up your space !! I prefer PVC. Desing it to work well while at the same time maximizing sump space. This is something I failed to do effeciently.

i prefer PVC just because i feel its easier to plumb but the next tank im going to run a section of spaflex on the return to make it easier for pump removal. Also make a output manifold so you can run carbon reactors and other accessories of the return pump. it helps reduce sump and cable clutter
