Pink Stylo

I picked up a pink stylo frag for free from another member of my local forum. It looked pretty bad when I picked it up. The entire bottom was bleached up until about the top 1/4 inch. That was about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I put it high in my tank but a touch off to the side of my lighting so it's not direct (LEDs anyways so it wouldn't UV burn). It looked like it was going to recover until the day before yesterday. The color had come back down through the bleached portion rather well. It still appeared to have a "coat" of hard clear material around the colored area inside. It had colored back up almost all the way down the frag (which was maybe 3/4").

Day before yesterday I noticed it was bleaching a little bit on the side towards the light. Yesterday evening, it was MUCH worse, bleaching is down nearly the entire side and about half way across the frag. I've moved it down in the tank, and did water tests. Came up with great results... which is usual for my tank water. Non measureable ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphates. 1.024 salinity, 8.2pH, 9kH, 440 cal.

Another member of my local forum grabbed a frag from this exact piece and it did this exact thing. He asked me if mine was bleaching a week or two ago and I told him no. He was trying a few things and I've messaged him to find out an update on his. Anyone have any ideas?

We are both running LEDs... I'm running rimless open top. So my heater is constantly keeping my tanks temp up and it's set on 78. I think he keeps his at 78 as well... but his is inside a canopy. Not sure what his ups and downs are.
