I have these pink colored flat works in my tank and I think that tey are bothering my mushroom corals..... what else can they bother and how can I rid my tank of them?
Pink colored? Not a rust-colored? FlatwormeXit works wonders, as long as you follow the directions VERY carefully. But that is for regular flatworms...
I woud like a natural aproach before I dose the tank with some chem. I called my LFS and they said that a target mandrin will eat them... anyone know about this? The flat worms are not very thick but they are attatched to soem of my corals. Mainly my mushrooms and they have looked sad lately. There are not that many of them.... but I want to keep their population down or gone quickly so help me!
Can't say for sure, but I've got a regular Green Mandarin, and have never seen any flatworms in my display... I DO see them in my refuguia though... I tend to give credit for this to my Mandarin, but can't prove it...
ok, so I am going to go with a either a traget mandrin or a 6 line. I know for sure that the target is reef safe and since my tank is small (24g) what would you suggest.... I have plenty of small shrimp in my tank (probly a thousand) for the mandrin to eat... (these are copepods right?) and I have seen small 6 lines before also.... which one would you suggest?
Odds are you are seeing amphipods and isopods. Copepods are almost impossible to see. Check page two of this ID page under the PODS section: http://www.melevsreef.com/id/
well, I have at least 2 diffrent kinds... you id page says that the mandrin will eat any of them so I guess I am in good shape here. I just hope they like flat works too!
yeah I like the mandrin anyways and my LFS said when he is starting to go hungry to just bring him back and trade him in so I think that is what I will do.
