Pics (crappy) I cant really get the white balance thing to look like what I see with my eye. Furthermore, I REALLY need to get rid of the 6500 Kelvin bulbs so these things will really color up.

Here is the acropora loripes

And my beautiful tenuis. THe base is yellow, the polyps are green and the tips are blue.

I wonder what it will change to under 10 K? Maybe close to this?

I am totally stoked! I just received my new bulbs. I'm running the Coralvue 10K's and I am totally thrilled. Now they haven't burned in, and the pics look a little more blue than they actually are, but I am sooooo happy that Nathan Elliiot turned me on to these. Compare the Tenuis!!!

That really looks good. Glad you finally got some new bulbs over that tank.

Ryan are those the Coralvue ReefLux 10ks or the Coralvue 10ks? I am in the process of buying the ReefLux bulbs.

Reeflux.

I sold him on them. You're going to love them Rick! My blues and greens are way more vibrant now than they were before.

I have tried the 'old' Coralvue 10K last year, which are really 14K - not very good bulbs to have long term.

I think your sps looks similar to the tri-color tenuis that I have. Mine look very nice under 10K. But it's a preference when it comes to lighting. I would sacrifice the bluer look for the sake of better growth under 10K with DE bulb such as Ushio or AB. That said, I'm interested to know more about ReefLux bulbs. Maybe they have better output?

I have found that XM 10K's are significantly bluer than others (such as Ushios). Maybe you could give them a try.

Regards,

What wattage XM are you using? I use 3 400 watters. I went to them last spring after hearing about the very high par they have. But I certainly do not like them the longer they have been in use. They are alot yellower than the Ushios I have used. In fact they were bothering me so much, I took them out and put in some old Ushios, just to hold me till my new bulbs come in.

You'll love the bulbs! I had the old Coralvue bulbs as well about 3 years ago and I thought they were horrible. They looked like the blue coolaid man jumped into my tank. The Reeflux bulbs look killer. I can't wait to see how they burn in. I like the par of XM's, but I'd rather have Ushios. These bulbs KILL both. Hands down! :p

Thanks Nathan!

Thanks for your posts and pics Tjay, your pictures (and your "they are not as blue in person") helped me decide to take the plunge.

I got them from acropora.net and I am really happy with the prompt service.

Rick,

I'm running 250watt. The first ones I got burned out after about 3months because of a short I had. I've just replaced them.

top down they look awesome Too!!!

(Rick..See the blue; thats what I was talking about at the social, the pictures can not emulate the amount of irredecence...BTW look at the top
right of the picture....Recognize that? Thanks again!)

This is really interesting to me because I can't find a bulb I'm completely happy with. The XM 20K is ok but doesn't promote good growth for me. The XM 10 washes out my colors too much (even with actinic supplementation) Also the 10K seem to bleach out some of the color, too. Ushio is too yellow. Other bulbs are too blue. Are these the "Goldilocks" of bulbs....in other words, are "they just right?" Anybody know what kind of PAR we're talking about?
