Picotope or Deko Kit???

Just looking for an outside the box comparison. On paper, it seems the Deko kit packs a bit more punch than the Picotope for a 3g tank in SW. Only thing making me second guess is the fact that I only hear and see Picotopes.

the only problem with the deco, imo, is that it is acrylic, the pico is glass. to many thats a big difference, but its really all about personal preference on the pros/cons of acrylic vs glass. one reason too that you may see the picos more on our board is because a couple months back, actually 6, 40 of them were ordered for members.

i would go deko 18watt light compared to 9 watt light....plus i perfer acrylic over glass as you get better colorization of the livestock. acrylic is = to starphire glass

you might also want to validate this statement i found on another forum about the deco

if the bulb is not replaceable, seems odd to me, then it is kind of a worthless fixture. even if it is double the power now, it wont be for long.

also, is it just me or does the acrylic look blue? im assuming lighting just makes it look that way but it would suck if it was actually blue.

Yes, the bulb is replaceable. I kinda like the light fixture on the pico better than the deko. Looks smoother. But there is a MH light fixture made for these things that is only $150 so i'll probably upgrade regardless in 2 months.

Can anyone tell me how good the stock filtration on the pico is? The deko says to have a 3 stage filtration on it's. But I was also looking to replace the filtration with a nano canister filter .

I changed out my pico filter with an aqua clear 70/100. Can't remember which one right now. But I know have a place for my heater, chemical, mechanical and biological filtration. And I made it into a fuge also.
