Pickling lime users - Kroger discontinued it!

[I went to two Krogers looking for this stuff (Mrs. Wage's) and had a manager check their inventory system. He said no stores in the area have it anymore, they must have stopped carrying it. DANG!

After my freak-out, I tried Wal-Mart as a hail mary. Super Wal-Mart in The Colony had Mrs. Wage's (first I've heard of them carrying it) for about $2 per bag. Bottom row in the "spices" section.

They had three bags, I got all 3. Anyway, just wanted to give you guys a heads-up.

Anyone know where else we can get kalkwasser for $2 per pound?

[I've been buying Ball's pickling lime at Albertsons for the past year or so....I think it's usually $1.70 or so a pound.

[I have a feeling it is seasonal. I bought mine a couple of months ago, and went to 5 stores until I found it at Albersons on the clearance shelf.]
 
[Yep, I found out that Albertson in Irving discontinued pickling lime. I could not find it at super-Walmart in Irving - got fed up and ordered some from the internet.]
 
[If you have a Brookshire's up that way they have/had it when I used to use it. I started ordering it on-line through Mrs. Wages after awhile. Do you use it for pH control or for calcium/alk?]
