pic of my humble reef

this is from left side of tank. As you can see my rocks are white, i was told this is a phase and brushing will help purple come back. I get lots of purple everywhere else exept for main tank. I use 2 250w 10k xm 2 95w vho atinic. Excuse the bubbles right now i did some cleaning today. Decent SPS growth although not so fast. Ca 420 mg 1350 alk was 8 dkh now i am raising to 10dkh (as of last week). Everything is going good and growing better and better. feel free to comment Casey

thank you for your comment Matt , thanks again for the corals psteeleb they are doing well. Its funny how the green coral with purple tips will loose its purple tips so easy, say i go out of town and someone else is taking care they dissappear. After a week or so they come back. This is also a maricultured colony and it seems to be more sensitive. I use it as an indicator. :)

Casey, if I were you I'd scrape the back wall clean. This will spread chips of coralline into the reef, seeding the live rock so more will grow out. After seeing your rock, I don't think there is an underlying layer that will grow out as I'd previously expected.

Coralline tends to grow in the darker areas of our tank, more than it will on the rockwork under MH lighting. If you were to dose with B-Ionic daily, I think you'd see more coralline on the rockwork as I've seen some encrusted tanks that dose that product.

Water parameters are good, so just give it time and scrape the back. That should kick start it. If you wanted to dose Purple Up after scraping, that might help as well.

thanks Marc, i dose bi onic every other day( i use 80ml every other day to keep up) Guess i will try the purple up. Alk is at 12.3 dkh now may have overshot a little( doseing and water change as well can do this) i checked ca it had dropped while i raised alk,.. dropped to 380( i added 80ml bi onic ca) I have also added mg since this should have gone down as well. After two or three doses i will test mg again. So purple up then?

This tank is beautiful in person! Dont you have some SPS mounted with magnets on the back wall? Awesome tank. Pics dont do the colors justice. I was buying the prop tank from casey and he couldn't get me to do much because I was staring into this tank with a dumb look.

Thank you Robert and Helen , hope to see and learn from your setup someday, really inspiring. Those corals grow like fire spreads. Thanks Angela for your kind words , Those Corals on the back are glued directly to the overflow i will post a picture of them. I have some pictures to post of the new addtions from the frag swap.

Carls look great and you have some very nice colors going there.
As Marc stated scrping you back wall will spread the coraline and seed the rock in your tank. One of the other things to watch is the Mg. Seems to me that coaraline is grows faster when the mag is in the proper levels.
