Phytoplankton cultures

[As a matter of fact, yes! Just make sure you get a bottle of just one kind. He seems to only have the mixture of the three on the website, but if you write him an email and tell him you are wanting to start your own culture and want only a bottle of one kind, he probably won't have a problem doing that for you.]

[I'm not trying to discourage you from getting it from there but why not just get a starter culture from another member. Usually there is always someone willing to give some away to get others started including me! Yoiu don't need more than a couple cups to get going.

Unless of course you already had some and were just asking if it would work in which case I'll shut up now!

Oh and now I see you're in Abiliene so it would be difficult to get some from a DFW area member. I'll take my foot out of my mouth now!]

[Keith--it may be because he is all the way in Abilene.

Michael--if you were planning on coming to the next meeting (which is on a Saturday), then I would be more than happy to bring you a small soda bottle full of my batch. If you have any frags or pods for trade, that would be great. Otherwise it is free (unless you really feel the need, a couple bucks is fine). Just let me know ahead of time so that I can set you aside some.]

[thanks byitjody for the offer.I love to get to the meetings some month but as of now I have to work Saturday.I really do thank you for the offer thou.]

[I'm getting tired of shelling out the money on DTs. How much space and equipment is required to culture your own???
Jody, I work in Richardson and if the offer is still open would love to get some phyto...
Thanks,
Charley]

[Charley, you can see a picture of how much space I use here:

and I have a surplus at this time. 5 bottles on hand, and I'm not using that much. So if you need one to get started, you are welcome to 2 liters worth.]

[Charley--I don't have any extra right now. Someone else already snagged it. However, I might have some extra by the next meeting. I work in downtown Dallas during the normal business day, so unless you are wanting to wait until 6pm or later when I do get more, you may want to contact Marc since he lives over in Ft Worth also.]

[Well Texaxcorals.com was nice enough to give me one out of the two bottles with just one plankton. It should be getting here Thursday cause of the labor day weekend.]

[Thanks for the offer Marc!....I'll definitely take you up on the offer. However, you'll have to give me a little crash course in phyto culturing. I have family in town this weekend but will definitely give you a call very soon. Thanks again.
Charley]

[That is fine Charley. However, if you wait too long, you'll have to catch up with me after MACNA. I leave Thursday and come back on Sunday night.

Btw, the cost involved is pretty low. You need a light, a timer, and an airpump. Tubing, water, salt and bottles come cheaply enough.]

[Hi, can i get a bottle of this stuff from 1 of you at the meeting this saturday so we can try our hand at it. I'll be happy to pay or give a frag for it. :)
Thanks Bump]

[The Meeting is not this Saturday, it is Sept 18th.]

[Carrol--I should have some extra by then. I'll trade you for a frag. (No xenia please---oh, no SPS either-don't have the lighting to take care of it) And yes, the meeting is on Sept 18, not this coming Saturday, but the next.]
