Phos Ban 550 w/ Rio 1400 and little to no tumble

Running NPX biopellets (about 400mg) in my phosban 550 reactor. I get a little tumble, but not much at all. Soaked pellets in RODI for 24 hours before installing. Seems like the pump just isnt enough? Any thing else it could be? Here's a youtube...

You have enuff flow just need to modify it a little like this video shows how to. Just be sure that when you glue it together that it is straight and when you put it back into the reactor that no pellets get caught inside of the tube. You can do that by holding the reactor on its side so that the pellets are on the side and then put the tube/lid back on. Also, you may want to remove some of pellets that you have in your reactor cuz you only need a small amount (about 1/4 of the recomended amount) to begin with or you will cause more problems that you had to start with.

DO NOT DO THIS WITH A 550 REACTOR... IT RUINED MINE, LOL. Thanks for the tip, but when you cut away the red grill at the bottom it ruins the structure. The 150 has little "pegs" that the tube rests on, so when you cut away the lower red part, the tube starys at the right height. On the 550, there are no pegs, the only thing holding the tube assy in place IS the red grill. When I cut the red part out, the tube sinks down about a half inch and wont stay connected. I am just going to throw away that 550, i already went and bought a 150 and all is well :)

I would just get a better quality pump. [smilie=nerd.gif] The Rio 1400 is "almost" equivilent to the MJ1200 recommended for the TLF150. Any possibility of connecting this with a valve to your return pump?

Cheers,
