PH fluctuation help

I have noticed over the past few weeks that my PH is up as high as 8.43 in the Day then down to 8.25 at night. Now I do not have an overflow on the tank so no way to run lights at night. Wanted to know if there is a way to stop the big jump in PH during the daytime. I have tried a PH buffer. Only thing it seems to help is that it does not drop below 8.25 anymore. I have noticed that if I dose right before the lights go out it will only drop to about 8.30. But, its hard to be there right before the lights are out. This fluctuation only started after I upgraded to LEDs from power compacts. My corals love the LEDs a lot more so not really wanting to go back. As well as the annenome, he has split into 4 and looks like a 5th one is the works now :) Time to get some more clowns :) But anyways any help would be great. I am not really wanting to set up an overflow right now, as I will be moving in a few months and plan on setting up a 200+ with overflow.

A 0.2 point diurnal fluctuation isn't something to be concerned about. Apparently your livestock agrees. [smilie=smile.gif]

There's no hard rule here. There's little evidence that suggests that diurnal swings have much effect at all. In nature, pH can shift by several tenths in lagoons. Rather, It seems to be more an issue of absolute pH. So as long as you're in the 7.8-8.5 range, you're generally ok. Personally, I've seem diurnal swings of 1 pH before with no obvious ill effects.
