I just read that Petco's water is not RO? If that is true I have been wasting a whole lotta money on water when I coulda gotten the top off out of my sink! (I thought I was PAYING for RO water....grrrr!!) Maybe I'll just go back to making my own with an RO/DI.

Well crap! My tank would probably be a whole lot healthier. Guess I'm luck I've done as well as I have then. Off to shop for an RO/DI I guess. Melev's Reef?

I started with petco water and went to a brs unit. With Marc being local and competitive prices (169$ I believe) I'd go that route.

Thank you Kendall! Just makes me mad that I work so hard at keeping things right and think I'm getting one thing and find out it's not only not what I thought, but compromises the health of my tank.

You and the wife will have to come back down after I get the new tank settled. Maybe I'll be ready for some of your amazing collection of zoas by then!

sure will! on the bright side, getting an RO unit is an easy fix to poor water quality. I know that after we moved from Amarillo, I hadn't changed my DI resin and had high TDS water for a month or two. That in combo with the stress of a tank move and my nitrates were well over 100 ppm...

I've got two of the Melev RO/DI units (one at home and one for my dad) and am happy with them. Can't imagine going back to buying and hauling around water. Plus we use it for drinking and cooking around the house.

I might have read wrong but isnt drinking ro/di water not advised? since it has a hunger for wanting to be balanced? i was under the impression ro/di water was called hungry water for a reason, because it dehydrates your cells?.

Would definitely recommend RO/DI system, makes your life so much easier compared to driving to get your water. Probably cheaper in the long run too, especially compared to Petco water.
