Petco at Forest/Preston closing

I was just there, they are at 40% off. Might be a chance to get some decent dry goods.

They had two 20lb bags of Carib-Sea "live" sand in black, for anyone wanting to do a nano with black sand. At 40% off, its not bad.

They had a lot of food (not the frozen), a lot of pumps, hob's and canister filters left.

Its worth a peek if you are in the area, especially if you are looking for anything mentioned above, or if you want a small tank cheap (about $7 for a 10g) or an Eclipse system for a nano.

thanks for the heads up on this. I stopped by today and picked up an aquaclear power head at a decent price. Also got joyce wilkersons clownfishes for just under 10$.

Went back by today (they close this sunday) and got two 160 gallon instant ocean buckets for $12.50 each! Not a lot of stuff left but the aquatics is 80% off. They still had a few 50 gallon instant ocean bags and oceanic salts when i left for under5$ each.

Can I buy one of those buckets from you? I'll give you $20.

Is that the store by Red Bird Mall? If so, I was there the week of the meeting, got 4 free hermit crabs + empty shells, and 5 gal of nice crushed coral for my flower beds, crafts or something else (free) along with several other things. Hummingbird feeders for like a buck or two. Wish there had been some of that salt left. I thought it was next Thursday was there last day, must have read it wrong. Darn, I won't be back in town till Wednesday.

Bunch of stuff is 90% off now.

Picked up heaters for $1 (Stealth), books are $1, grabbed all the ORA clownfish food for .50 each, ammonia alerts at .80, ocean nutrition F1 and F2 for .80, inexpensive powerheads (great for salt mixing, QT tanks, ..................

Total savings $320 on the first pass, put that in the car and went back in,. Saved $110 on the second pass.

Their prices aren't all that great to start with, but I spent less than the price of one Duetto 100 from marinedepot (great filter for fry and QT tanks - I bought all they had left => well, I did that for quite a few things) for 6 bags full of stuff.

Hopefully the BOD bought some of this stuff to add to the raffles.

Cat and dog food is 60 to 80 off. Picked up some expensive collars and leashes, nail clippers, etc. for next to nothing as well.

They did have a few aquarium stands left but pricing is supposed to be better tomorrow on those. Most of what was left was for 29 and 40. One for a 55 came with a canopy.

Has anyone been there today? I finally got a day off and was thinking about going if there was anything left.

Made the mistake of taking my wife there today.

Fortunately it was 1¢ sale day and we spent $4 for a car full of stuf.

Got a bunch of heaters, 40W T8 ballasts, plastic plants, coral sand, airstones, and on and on -> free. Stuff was tucked away in cabinets in the back. As they were selling the cabinets I opened them and all this stuff was there so I carted it up and asked the manager if it was for sale. He said it was mine "as payment for getting it out of his way". Cool

Anyone have any experience with the Hydor THEO Heater (http://tinyurl.com/37pdob) - got a few of them (part of the freebies, new in the box). Sales blurb makes them look good, but we know the value of most adverts.

So - what time do they close? Geesh - with 3 dogs, 4 cats and 2 tanks, guess I should have paid more attention to this thread!

They said they would close "when the store was empty" - but I think that may have been a while ago. Looked pretty empty by the time Carla got done shopping .........

We bought dog and cat food for a penny.

Also bought a bunch of this desert stuff for dogs (ours son's Poodle likes it) http://tinyurl.com/2x87p9 ....

Number 1 I didn't know there even WERE deserts for dogs.
Number 2 I didn't know I raised a kid who would actually spend $5 for a desert for a dog.

We have a few dozen of them now. I guess I can live with a penny each.

Still, I am waiting to see this dog eat Carrot Cake before I will believe it. We have Blueberry, Apple, Pumpkin, and Carrot Cake so she won't have to have the same desert after each meal. Goodie ......

Our youngest took a couple of cans to feed to a friend of his. Hope he doesn't end up getting his butt kicked over this one .......

We have a few dozen collars and leashes and tie out chains and charms and other food. Christmas is covered for years for our dog and cat loving friends.

We were there today as well and it was like a Mastercard commercial. Shopping cart full less than one hour.
Anything we could find for cats dogs and fish.
Total cost of everything $920.00
Total cost to us $12.87
The look on our face.....Priceless!!!!!!!!

You did look kind of stunned when you came back in to get more !!!!!

The two carts Carla was pushing rang up at $3.96. We just couldn't find more to buy ............

I passed out a bunch of MAS cards - including giving some to the people who worked at PetCo. Still amazes me how many people do not know about this club. Our advertising simply has to get better.

Too many of these people are frustrated with the shift to salt and we need to get some newbie stuff stickied to get them on the right track and we for sure need to get MAS stickers on the doors, shirts, and marine tanks in these stores. The cards and flyers at the counter just aren't getting it done.

According to the receipts (and ignoring all the free stuff)

Total Savings Final total

108.04 ........... 12.86
318.09 ........... 31.69
1398.00 ......... 3.96
<hr class="bbcode_rule" />
1824.13 ......... 48.51

Amazing what a 96 - 99% discount does to the bottom line !!!!!! I asked them to be sure to invite us to next one of these they do.

Most of the good stuff was gone when I got there. I was hoping for a cheap 40G stand, but all that was long gone. I still 'spent' $102 before the discount, then I had to fork over .54 cents :D

FYI - the Petco by Red Bird Mall is closing as well - in its final 2 days. Aquatics section was VERY thin. they have one 40G stand (basic) and a small hex tank stand. lot's of stuff for dogs/cats.
