Peppermint Shrimp removal

Alright Guys I got a small 30 Gal set up with a lot of coral but bought a rock covered in aiptasia from a guy so I got a peppermint but he couldn't do it alone so now there's 5 or 6 and I noticed their starting to pick at my corals. Now its time to go. Anyone got a good way to get them out? There's a lot of rock for these guys to hide in and under so just fishing them out is near impossible. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Are you trying to remove the shrimp or the anemone? Next time try hydrogen peroxide or lemon juice inject directly on the anemone. Death is almost instant. I also found a couple of red legged hermits that were mistaken as scarlet hermits eat these. You just have to place them next to to it.

As for the shrimp you might be able to trap them in a net with food. It worked when I tried to catch my cleaners.

Good luck!

will lemon juice of hydrogen peroxide affect the tank in any way?

Use interceptor. Always works great for any shrimps. Use double the recommended dose to kill all in single dose. My 2 cents...you can not catch them without breaking up the tank.

Well I'm going to move everything to a 100 gallon I have had running for about a week now I'm trying to give it plenty of time to cycle even though it was covered in coroline and so were the rocks but I just want to be sure. I don't want to kill them at 10$ a pop I figure sell them on here and try to get something back. I'm trading one away tomorrow if I can catch one. LOL as for the Aiptaisia I would like to know your way jnmarshall will it hurt my coral or anything? I'm going to try food to catch them I hear theres some jar trick but don't know how it works. Put food in jar and hope the shrimp go in?? Thanks for the input guys.

I used lemon juice from a bottle of real lemon I had in the fridge with a meat injector syringe. Just stuck the little bugger and within 20-30 minutes it was dead. The lemon juice seemed the more "natual" or safer then expensive chemicals and h2o2. I suppose if you accidently dumped the whole bottle into your tank it would of course mess up your Ph. Remember you are stabbing the anemone, not adding this to the tank.

I've always had no trouble catching pepps. Hold a clear glass with some food pellets near the bottom of the tank, and they should go right in there. If you are careful you may be able to get multiple pepps at a time.
