my female jawfish has a few red spots around her mouth. it almost looks like a red rash around her mouth. it also looks like she either has a growth inside of her mouth on her bottom lip or maybe her bottom lip is torn...it almost looks like some extra skin in her mouth. it's not eggs or anything like that. either way she cant close her mouth well now and im pretty lost as to what to do. she is in a peaceful tank and doesnt fight with the male at all. the sunburst anthias isnt a problem with her either. the only thing i can think of is maybe she dug too hard and cut her lip up on a rock?

any help would be appreciated. thanks

Please take this with a grain of salt because I am very green still....or is it blue with marine tanks?

Either way, I have a false perc who had a red bump from dive bombing a mushroom "patch" repeatedly. (never claimed he was the smart one)

It cleared up and went away after 4-6 days it seemed.

hey debbie!
the jawfish are doing just fine. i moved them tonight to my main display tank and wouldnt you know it, one of them already tried to go carpet surfing. i got really lucky and actually saw it jump so i was able to put it right back in. i had egg crate on top...i guess it just found a small opening. i covered it up with some extra acrylic i have just to be safe it doesnt do it again before it digs a burrow.

thanks for asking!
