Pearly jaw vs bluespot jawfish

Hello everyone, I am looking for feedback on the jawfish. Being such a cool looking fish, I have had the bluespot jawfish in the past but have never been successful keeping the. Longest I've had one is a year so I am leaning this time towards a pearly jawfish. Does anyone know if the pearly is any hardier than the bluespot? I've had other fish for several years but just have not had such luck with the bluespot.

I'd say in my experience the pearly head is much hardier. I'm sure people on here have had good luck with the blue spot as well, but in general the perly's do better.

I have a pair of Pearly's that are doing really well. Had one for about a year and the other for about 8 months. They fought a lot for the first week, and still occasionally fight some, but are doing well......they act like an old married couple. One will chase the other one out of their den and then bite the other one on the side of the head, hold him for a couple of seconds and then let go. Then they are fine....just a little lover's spat I guess.

I recently just bought a Blue Spot and the verdict is still out on whether he will make it. He is eating pretty well, but can't seem to find a spot in my tank that he likes and seems kind of stressed out. I am thinking about building him a pvc cave. I think if he would ever settle on one spot, he would be fine. The Blue Spot has been on my wish list for a while now and I was originally going to wait until I set my 28g nano back up. I saw one at a LFS that I thought looked healthy and at a decent price....so I made an impulse buy [smilie=sadsmile.gif] . I put him in my 120 with the rest of my reef community (including my Pearly pair...which you are never supposed to do). Surprisingly my Pearly pair have never paid him any attention...even when he decides to make burrow about 6" from theirs. I have had him for a month now...hopefully he settles into a spot and keeps doing well. I have read some places that they really need to be fed multiple times a day and prefer water temps in the mid to low 70's (my tank ranges from 80-82)....so that is two strikes against me....

Pearly's are definitely the hardier of the two....
