Pain in the Wrasse...

I have a 6 Line Wrasse that thinks he is the boss and anytime I put a new fish in, he beats them up? Clowns and goby's, he doesn't mess with long. But I just put a new wrasse in and he is really hammering on the new guy. Knocking his scales off and everything. And I can't get either out of this 90g tank because they are too fast.

Is there any way to acclimate fish in the future to keep from bullying? I was thinking about a clear box on the side to put any new fish in, but still just assumed as soon as I dropped in the tank the fight would be on?

Anyone find a solution for this problem?

The room I have my tank can get pretty dark so I turn off all lights even the moonlights I cover the tank with big beach towels so that the other fish go to sleep and thats when I acclimate and then add the fish I do not turn the lights back on till the next day it works for me

Six line wrasses are very territorial. I got rid of mine and switched to a cryptic six line wrasse

+1 on the lights off thing. Andrea is right. I have a 6line and a neon dottyback. I acclimate lights off then gradually over several hours raise intensity starting with blues. The dottyback was there first and was a bit snippy with the wrasse but now they're all one big happy family!

Unfortunately, that is just a six line's nature. I used a 16 oz inverted coke bottle to trap mine...actually worked pretty good and quick since six lines are so active and curious.

Guess I just got lucky with mine. It's never bothered anyone. It just glides along thoroughly checking every inch of my aquascape.

Nope. Just saw the new one. Looks like he has been in one heck of a bar fight. The six line has to go. Going to try the bottle trick

Try putting him in QT or Refugium for a while the reintroduce him lights off. It made my big clownfish be nice...

This is how I got my Yellow Tang to stop trying to murder my Powder Blue. Put 6-Line in the qt/sump for a week or two and he'll play nice when returned : )

I need some clever ideas on how to get him out? It he so much as sees a new he won't come out of the rocks for a half hour. And the inverted bottled trick isn't working

That is the hard part. Try watching his behavior for a bit, where he likes to hang out etc. Then maybe you can manipulate him into a spot where you can catch him. Sometimes it helps to have an extra set of hands. Unfortunately you may have to remove a few pieces of rock to get him. It can be a tedious process. If you need help and aren't too far away I will offer my ingenuity and assistance to you if you need help.
