Overflow boxes..which kind.

I see two styles out there in hob overflow boxes..ones with U tubes and ones that say continuous siphon ..what is the best...

I am sure some will like one over the other..I am looking for pluses and minuses of each style. These are for an under 50 gallon tank.

Do you need an overflow box because I'm breaking down my tank and Donnie doesn't want the overflows.
