Ordering fish online question please help!

I am interested in ordering some fish online, my only delima is I work a lot and am not sure if I will be home that day prior to ordering. Will most places ship right to your door or do you have to go pick up the livestock from your local air port? I have never gone this route and always purcahsed from the LFS. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

If you are not available to accept the animal and start acclimating then you really shouldn't order online.

If you are just needing to run errands and can't sit at home all day waiting then several of the stores will allow you to ship to a Fedex/UPS counter instead of your door step. This way the animal is kept out of the extreme hot/cold present on your porch but allowing you some flexibility in not having to sit and wait.

In general though if you don't accept and sign at your door most companies will not give you any kind of livestock guarantee.

I order most of my fish online and get all my local fish from Frank's Tank. When ordering online, you get to tell them the day to have it ship to you. Therefore, you can make plans to be off for a half day and come in the other half.

For the fish that I pickup at the airport, these fish are usually rare and hard to get fish. That's the only time I will pick it up at the airport.

I have had a lot of success with Exoticfish.com and saltwaterfish.com. Little success with marinedepotlive.com and liveaquaria.com

I have only ordered online once and that was from liveaquaria.com. They delivered it directly to my door. If I am not mistaken, I believe they required a signature for delivery. I think it did negate the waranty if you were not there to sign upon the first delivery attempt, but it delivers early... (before 10:30 I think), so the day is not completely shot.

I have ordered from JustRareFish.com and LiveAquaria.com with no problems. I was home to make sure I received the fish and acclimated them though.
