ORA Platinum Picasso

Wow, really cool, but they do carry a hefty price tag.
So much for picasso's being one of the most popular fish out there.

Are they breeding clown fish and when they get a mutated and strange color on a batch of them they just sell them for a really high price?
 
I got that email yesterday from ORA and I wouldn't buy them at wholesale cost...Outrageous!

DaveG I think they just keep breeding the white genes into them over and over but that's my quess. Selectively breeding them as they go increasing the white coloration. This seems like a super snowflake to me.
 
wow, I thought the clowns I am attempting to raise were clarkii, but after looking at the platinum clowns, they kind of resemble those NOT don't I wish, cool looking fish!
 
they must be selectively breeding them... the rate at which spontaneous mutants arise is expected to be extremely low. So low that it would warrant a much much higher sale price :)
 
Besides the fact that I don't like the look of them at all there isn't a chance in hell I could talk my wife into spending that on fish.
 
Please keep in mind that ORA use to cull these, as they believed they were a bad gene. It's because of the demand that they started keeping all these little freaks, and that why they are coming out now.

Poor Art... clown fish are now the computers of the fish world, as soon as you get the latest and greatest, they release an upgraded version before the old ones have a chance to settle in and get some use :) I'm sure hes happy with the Snowflakes though and that's all that counts!

So long as the fish are healthy, the variations don't bother me too much though I doubt I would ever want to buy one considering the price tag.
 
personally I like the look of a "natural" clownfish much better not a big fan of ocellaris or perculla but better than the "freaks."
 
Im not turned on by them! I like the onyx clowns or the regular picasso.... the snow flakes look like they are sick to me. I cant wait for the price of picasso's to fall abit more to get a pair.
