old live rock? alive again

i found an old piece of live rock my uncle gave me awhile back. how long would it take to bring it back to life? if i even can.

about 6 weeks, I would imagine. Give it a good year and it would be very good. This is as long as it is porous.

Live rock that has completely dried out will never be as "live" as live rock that has been kept moist since the ocean, but it will definately accumulate beneficial bacteria and work in the filtration process. It also takes quite a long time to get coraline to get a good foothold even when mixed with coraline encrusted rock. Your best bet is to use it as a base for newer fresh rock.

yeah thats what i was thinking, b/c then it will be in a good environment so it can get the good bacteria and stuff.
