This thread will be an attempt to chronical my son's new 90 gallon tank. We hope to have a nice example of mixed LPS with a few SPS. I still am not sure if softies will make it.

Tank specs:
We have decided to go with a 36x24x24 regular glass tank and have an external overflow.

Tank equipment:
6 - 36" T5 lights
Glass sump
DAS EX-1 Skimmer
Remote DSB
Maxi-jets on waver maker
Mag 12 return pump

We will do our best to keep the thread current with progress and pics.

We constructed the tank yesterday along with the overflow box. They are in their curring stages right now but I will post pics of the final result.

Niiice! Those little black blocks you are using, can you expand on that in the other thread please? I see the double stick tape, so it does more than just give you a visual alignment.

That tank will be very pretty. Will it be rimless?

Ok. Tonight we made a little more progress. We attatched the overflow box and started to work on the teeth for the box.

Here are some pics of the process.
First, we flipped the tank on it's side. Man, this thing is heavy  .

Next, we placed the overflow on to do a "dry" fit.

Everything lined up great so we taped off the contact area. While the box was positioned and taped off, we used a Sharpie marker on the inside of the tank to draw lines exactly where the silicone needed to go.

Next, the box was removed so that it could be taped off as well.

With the box out of the way, I laid the bead of silicone to follow the lines that were drawn on the underside of the glass.

Finally, the boxed was place in position, the silicone was smoothed, and the tape was removed to leave a finished product.

That's all for now. Stay tuned!!!!!!

Oh yeah, one more thing. The messy silicone that is visible in some shots is on the outside bottom of the tank. It is the last to get shaved off. I didn't want you guys to think I was sloppy  .

great work david - i love my tank also!

maybe one day our house will finish and i can post pictures of it!

Update
Well, we managed to get a little more done today.

A short trip to Lowes for the lumber and the stand started to take shape.
