Octopus TDNW 300 repair??

I recently tried to take my Reef Octopus TDNW 300 to clean it and I broke the acrylic. I'd like to start using it as an external skimmer but I don't know if I just threw $700 away by breaking it?? any help would be AWESOME!

thanks!

You may be able to repair that with acrylic glue but it won't be pretty and I would definitely not trust it as an external. You may even have to take even more drastic repair tricks to salvage it also. Marc or someone else can point you to the best type of acrylic glue that would work best in this application.

Cheers,

I agree. Even if you repair it, I'd always keep it internal to a sump/fuge or whatever.

I have an ER CS-12 that was "repaired" when I got it. I've used some Weldon 16 (I think) to bond the pieces back together. But I don't think it will ever be the same strength as original. It's really not that hard.

My crack was around the drain tube. I managed to also build some support the tube. If that's the pump inlet, it may be more difficult to support the weight of the pump. Make sure that somehow you support the weight of the pump and don't let it just "hang" it's weight on the mended acrylic.

Are they that thin? That would have really made me upset. Glad to see you got it repaired. How's it working?

I haven't tried it yet since I am thinking of putting a piece of acrylic around where it broke just for extra support.
