"Octopus Frogspawn Coral???"

Yesterday I stopped by a LFS on the south side of Ft. Worth & saw an AMAZING looking frag for sale. I almost didn't stop by because the last time I was in, I had to tell them about a dead fish in one of their display tanks. Their corals always look great, but their fish displays leave something to be desired. Anyways as I said, I saw this frag that looked similar to a frogspawn except that instead og skinny arms with one or two polyps on the ends, this was a neon green ball w/ thick tentacles. Each tentacle had approximately six to ten dark green polyps spread over the entire arm. I called the kid over to ask him what it was, & surprise, he didn't know. He then called the other employee over who stated, "I think its an octopus or frogspawn." Does anyone know if that is correct?

Thanks

It kind of sounds like a Torch coral to me, based on the description.

Frogspawn tends to have a few dots on the polyps:

Octopus corals have way more dots:

I purchased a neon yellow/green octupus coral from Neptune's cove for 60.00 for two heads. It's way prettier than any frogspawn i've ever seen. I'll see if I can snap a picture.

Upper right corner.... they come in different colorations, some are vivid green tips with a brown/yellow base, some with yellow tips and green base. Can be kept together with hammers and other froggies just fine even touching as you can see from the photo below. When happy they extend quite a bit though so give it plenty of room. Moderate light and gentle flow will expand it the most. Keep alk/ca in check as they will bleach a bit and act drawn when those get low or too high.
