Octopus 250 Extreme

Well I upgraded from a Octopus Recirculating DNW-200 Skimmer to Octopus Extreme 250..Build quality between the two The recirculating is thicker acrylic but it is also a taller skimmer.
My reasoning to upgrade is the two sicce pumps are more efficient than the one pump in the Recirculating.I prob could of gotten away with sticking with the recirculating skimmer but since i am going majority sps with barebottom tank I want to make sure i overskim the tank.

I love the Octopus brand I feel you get the best bang for the buck...I have owned euroreef, aquac coralife, etss and this will be my third octopus skimmer...But this is just my opinion

Day one i decided to use the pinwheels instad of the mesh as I feel pinwheels are better technology for a skimer..But this is my opinion

Here is a pic of the Octopus recirculating skimmer next to the Octopus Extreme 250

With the new pinwheel i am suppose to get 30SCFH instead of the original 20SCFH with old pinwheel style

If anyone has questions on this skimmer there is a great thread on rc on this skimmer that i found very useful

What's the smallest they make in the extreme?

You've been very helpful in skimmer choosing Pampee, thanks

I like how you've been able to experience different skimmers and tell what your opinion of them are.

You bought the extreme new? Mind me asking what they retail for?

160 gallons is the smallest insump model.

marinesolutionsinc.com is the cheapest to get the msx skimmer...other than that reefspecialty.com is where to get the octopus extremeskimmer

both msx and octopus extreme are the same skimmer...just different stickers

Yeah one of these days I need to go out and buy the 250 and upgrade from the 200.

Dont get me wrong, the 200 is great. I want a skimmer with a second feed pump because I have a large system with an extremely high turnover in my sump. I need to measure my sump because I'm not sure if I have a 16 X 16 footprint in there with the bubble trap.

I have one CnC pinwheel already, I chose to keep using the meshwheel because it pulls much more air and skims better. I only have one feed pump, so I need it to work as efficiently as possible. If I had two feed pumps I would use the CnC pinwheels in a second.
