[Okay, I've been battling algae with some success. The light at the end of the tunnel is near - but it seems it may have caused other issues than just growing on corals and rocks.
So I've noticed the water level of the tank has edged up a bit - the flow of the return hasn't increased, the drain pipe appears to be chugging as much as it used to and it's intake is clear... BUT this 'megaflow' overflow in the tank is kinda dirty now.
The slots that are near the bottom and in the middle have gotten some crud in them. I tried scraping them off with my kent thingy, and it helped a bit, but you can tell there's gunk inside this thing. I think these clogging up a bit is causing more water to have to go through the top of the overflow, hence the increase in water level. I'd like to clean it up to get back to normal (especially since I doubt the very top can handle 650gph on it's own)
Anyone experienced with cleaning this thing??]
