Nova Extreme Pro 48 inch T-5 Fixture 6x54W

Nova Extreme Pro 48 inch T-5 HO Fixture 6x54W

Anybody have any experience with this setup? I have a 60"Long x 31"Deep 150g in wall tank. I currently have a 4 lamp T5 retrofit on it and want more light to start some SPS possibly. Should I find a 8 bulb setup instead of the 6?

I use the same fixture on my 125. Everything is growing nicely including some SPS. I put the SPS higher up in the tank, about 10" from the light.

I recently saw some posts on RC from PA and their tests showed the Nova put out around 40% less par than an ATI fixture. Right now the best choice is ATI with the TEK Elite probably second.

yes the ATI's are beasts when it comes to T5.

I have a PM 36". And recently saw TWO 36" NEP's on a 72" tank. I think that the two combined were still less light than my one ATI PM. I wouldn't use the NEP for a sps dominant tank...but a mixed reef should be ok. Just be sure to get better bulbs that what come standard with it.

Very true. I have a NEP on my 30gal tank and I immediately switched out the bulbs for ATI and UVL bulbs. I've got a couple of SPS in the tank and they do OK but their growth is nothing like it was when they were under halides.

My only complaint with the ATI fixtures is they don't offer mounting legs. I don't have the option of hanging from the ceiling so it makes it harder for me to use one. I'm probably going to switch from halides on my 75gal to a TEK Elite 6bulb fixture.

just build a mounting bracket and hang it from that. But you will probably need to be able to move it up or down...it CAN be too intense.
