Not sure what to do... help.

I have a pair of true Percula Onyx clown fish and my female is preganant. I have never delt with this before and am very interested in hoping to save as many if not all of the fry to raise to adult hood. They are hosting a tourch coral with about 7 heads on it. that coral is right above a rock the female has been scopeing out to lay her eggs but is a main formation rock of my aquascaping. what steps do I need to take to help her and the process? I have no clue what to do. any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I am going to post this in the new to hobby forum as well since this is something new to me.

I'm no expert but I believe you'll need to feed rotifers which most people raise at home.

Ive never done that but I do keep a living phytoplankton culture and would be happy to help you get that started (to feed the rotifers). I've also hatched tons of baby brine shrimp and would be happy to give you some eggs to get that started if you make it that far.

I think BBS is probably too big to start with but if they'll eat newly hatched ones I can help you get that started. It's a piece of cake - you just need a two liter bottle and an air pump. Actually, that's the same gear you need to grow phyto.

do I need to get another tank and try to move them or do I let them lay their eggs and then have them hatch and then try to move them? I guess that is my main concern. I have read on this but just not sure of my first move since the area they have been living in will not be the same if I move them.

Rotifers have to be harvested daily once the culture is going or they tend to crash. 2 lazy days and on the 3rd, and you end up starting over again.
They really don't need light. You can use "old" water from your tank on WC days to keep the costs of mixing up new brine every day.
You must have a 50u sieve because you will not want to be putting rotifer water into your fish tanks.

You might consider a pod culture on top of the phyto and rotifers once the fry are bigger.

This guy has a kit for them that I've ordered in the past:

I've purchased items from this guy as well. In theory you could just order food from him on a regular basis until the fry are big enough to wean off of live food.

Hope this helps.

I appreciate the guidance. this is a lot to take in. I guess my first step is to seclude them from the rest of the tank mates. I will probably get a small tank and move them over with some live rock and the torch coral they have been hosting and let them get used to that and then just keep an eye on the female until she lays her eggs. I have no problem buying the rotifers and pods to help bring the fry to maturity as I am really a newby and have not had any experience raising those types of foods. I will let you all know how it goes.

Lance would be the guy to talk to on here as he have successfully raised fry before...

My pair lays about every week n a half to two weeks... i just never have time to dedicate to raising the fry, as soon as they hatch theyre gone the next day.
