I bought "Cured" Live Rock over the internet, cleaned it off from all the muck that I could, added it to my tank and all was fine. 2 Days later I have this Slime like bubbly looking growth on those rocks, now i don't know if this is the same bubble algae that I read about or what, but I scraped it off as I have not fish or anything yet, I am cycling, But the MESS this it left on my pretty white sand is Sad, I have browning algae and this white stuff I scraped off and bits of broken rock. Should I have left the slime and what is the best way to clean up my sand?

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.

What color is the slime? What are your current water parameters?

Temp?
Salinity?
Ammonia?
Nitrite?
Nitrate?

It is white (see through).

This is a new tank, i added rock on Friday nite last week, the Ammonia as of Monday night had gone down to 4, did not measure any others yet.

Temperature was at 78F, reduced it to 76.

Are you running your lights? And what about a protein skimmer?

I would recommend turning your lights off and making sure your skimmer stays clean.

Lights are off all the time as I am cycling the tank, skimmer is in place, how much work should the skimmer do, meaning how much should be pouring out as overflow, should it be all the time, gradually, what it the optimum.

No pics as I just cleaned up, if there are any floating around, I will take a pic and post it tonite.

Thanks

White slime saounds like it may be sponge trying to grow.
I would reccommend trying your lights for 2-3 hours a day and see what happens. Would also recommend running carbon to clean up certain impurities.
