North dallas water parameters

[I was wondering if I could get some notes from others on your water parameters, as it comes out of the tap. I am setting up a freshwater tank, and the tap water is reading a pH of 8.5-8.8. Is that typical of the North Dallas(635/Preston) area? I am going to be injecting CO2, which should help bring the pH down, but I was just surprised at how high the reading is. I've double checked, using my electronic pH meter, as well as a test kit. Fortunately, no fish or plants yet, just in the "fishless cycling" mode right now.

If this is right, how do people bring the pH down? I am assuming that I need some sort of acid to offset high reading?

Comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.]

[I have never tested the water i use in my freshwater for ph, but i would suspect it is close to 8 since that is what my tap water is. You can use peat moss in your filter to bring down the ph. You can find it in just about any pet store. hope that helps]

[Check your cities web site. Several of the DFW area city pages have links to information about the makeup of their water.]
