No heavy shipping fee salt

[mukymuk]

Just an FYI. If you buy salt from petstore.com's amazon storefront, you don't have to pay the $20 heavy shipping fee typically charged for the 5 gallon buckets. At least for now.

Do you have a link to the "Amazon" store front? Thank you!

I went there and it added $44.95 shipping to a bucket of Reef Crystals. Am I missing something? It won't be the first time. Here's the link:

I ordered 2 - 200g boxes of reef crystals at Dr FS - the price was higher but shipping was only 8.99 for both

I got 3 25 gallon boxes from Marine Depot, and they did not charge any extra for shipping. I have done that more than once. That would make 8 25g boxes 66.32, while the 200g box is 72.99 with its extra shipping charge. The standard shipping charge is added to both. I guess that either way you get the same amount of salt. Smaller boxes are fine with me!
Foster and Smith is cheaper than either of these other 2 mentioned on the big box. The club gets a kickback when you use the Marine Depot link here on the forums.

I got Red Sea Coral Pro. No heavy shipping fee: http://www.amazon.com/Red-Salt-Coral-Pro-175G/dp/B000VOG0LI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3MD0713A3NPNS&s=merchant-items&qid=1289832391&sr=1-1

They must have just made a mistake listing it then.

Great tips guys, thanks. I have yet to pay the heavy shipping fee, and hope I never have to. I usually try to buy salt locally--plano pets, but they didn't have it in stock last weekend. Here's the link for those in the plano area: http://www.planopets.net/fish.html. Another LFS wanted $80 [smilie=surprised.gif]

Pet Solutions has all their salt mixes on sale (I just got Reef Crystals - 160 gal bucket or 200 gal box for $45.99 tonight) - free shipping with order over $99 and no extra weight charges on salt.
