Newbie has some questions - acrylic and water jug

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me

I have a couple of questions:

1) in doing the pin method when cementing acrylic together, where can I get the pieces of wood that is inserted below? Do I have to make those of can I purchase them from HD?

2) where can I buy those white water containers that I see in LFS? I saw someone selling it once at craigslist for $12 but I dont see the post anymore. I cant seem to find them at walmart, target or online. what do you call those water containers? I think they are about 5-gallon big.

Thanks!
Rowena :p    :D

Question number one I do not know but I believe that they can be puchased from any home store. Just ask for shims.

Question number two. I bought mine at Wal*mart. in the camping section. Mine are 7 gallon and stack nicely. They are blue.
Hope this helps.

Exotic Aquatics sells 5 gallon jugs for $9.99 and aren't as much of a headache to fill as the 6 or 7 gallon tall containers (well at least from the perspective of someone who works in a LFS  ) If that's not close to you just check with your nearest LFS the next time you're in, they might sell you a few.

up at aquatic trading Tony sells his 5 gallons for 8 dollars straight also hes a real good guy very help full and you will learn alot from him

You could definately learn a lot from him... he's extremely helpful...

I make my own shims on a table saw or with a circular saw. All you need is a 2x4 and cut a series of angled cuts - carefully.

thank you so much for the responses, i appreciate them very much. exotic aquatic's store website is not working right now and i couldn't see if they have the water jug i am looking for. i saw it at a emergency supply website and attached a picture.

Like 'newtofish' I bought mine at my local Wal-Mart in the camping section, they are six gallon and look like the old 'jerry can' gas containerwe used in the military. These green containers were $6 and are marked for water only.

aquatic trading @ arapaho and jupiter FTW!!! tony is a great guy and as EGhatch said, it's 8 bucks per container and water is .75 cents a gallon.

as someone who also works in a LFS, PLEASE get jugs that are transparent. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten an eyefull of water trying to see down in opaque jugs.
