New types of fish for my tank - Semi-fowlr-half reef

[I am thinking about getting away from the aggresive type fish and going to more of a community/reef type set-up. I still do not want to go full reef yet, it's a money issue. What I am considering is the following:

one false Percula
one Bi-Color Blennie
one Bi-Color Pseudochromis
one Royal Gamma
One Tang (Yellow or Hippo)
one Dwarf Angel (Lemonpeel or Flame)

Misc snails, crabs, shrimp, etc

No corals or anememes

I have a 75G tank, 100 lbs of LR, soon to have a 29 gallon sump/fuge.

Please tell me if I would have any conflicts with the mentioned fish. Or If I should stay away form any of them.

Thanks,
Mike]

[I think the above looks ok. Why not make it two percs? The gramma and the psuedo are very territorial so be sure to keep an eye on them.]

[I thought about two Percs. Just trying to get a feeling for the disposition of the above fish. I am tied of my triggers eating mt cleaner crew! I guess I really need 2 tanks, but my wife would leave me.

Do Hippo Tangs have the same problem with ICK that Yellows do?]

[Hippos are known to be worse with ich than most tangs. I keep two hippos and only had ich when they were first introduced. I do QT any fish I add to those tanks to prevent the hippos from contracting it again. I wouldnt buy one larger than 3" as it will eventually be huge. HTH!]

[I did not know the Hippos were worse. That is good to know. I will have to consider the Pseudo and RG.

Thanks,
Mike]

[Dont get me wrong, I would by another one in a heartbeat. If you dont plan to qt then it might be a problematic fish for you though. Just something to keep in mind.]

[What ever you do don't get a powder blue. It is just horror story after horor story...

BTW does anyone know someone who sucessfully keeps one?]

[The Powder Blue Tangs are great looking. I almost do not want a Tang because I hear so many bad stories about Ick. I do not think I have ever seen one in a store that DID NOT have Ick. I do want a tang because I still want a "big" fish in the tank.

Any opinion on the Auriga (sp) Butterfly fish?]

[Oh Mitch, they are not that bad, mine has never had ICH! Just kidding, I have a beautiful Power Blue, though I also hear they are supposedly ICH magnets. If you get a tang just find one thats healthy lookingand see if they will hold it for a week or so. Then feed it garlic laced food for the first two weeks in the tank. In fact do that for any fish that you put in the tank, even if they look perfect. Knock on wood, doing this with every fish I get, I never have had ICH show up on my fish.]

[I use Kent's Garlic Xtreme now with my triggers. It really gets them going when the smell hits the water. I know Triggers are pretty bullet-proof from disease anyway. I would definately do the same with any other fish. Would definately do the same with Tangs.]

[Butterfly fish tend to eat featherdusters and such. If you care about those, don't get the Butterfly.]

[My royal gramma is beautiful, but too shy for me to fully enjoy it. He'll venture out from his hidey hole, but retreat when I approach the tank.]
