New tank, new to sps, tips welcome.

I just confiscated the tank I bought my ex girlfriend due to extreme neglect. It is a 58 gallon reef ready with canopy and 30 gallon fuge. It only has 200 watts of power compact lighting. I plan to plum this system into my 75 gallon as well. What amount and quantity of MH lighting should I get. Can I get away with one fixture or do I need two. Is 14K cool for all sps? It does have a dsb and just normal Fiji rock. I never plan to run Ozone or any type of reactor, just dose manually like my other two tanks. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I would run at least 1 250 DE Watt HQI, maybe two if you can afford it plus VHO or t5 supplemental actinics.

I do not have a budget, I am ready to buy once it cycles. i would love to hear the dream setup. Please let me know, I do not want to ever go back and retrofit like my last two softy tanks.

I do not want 4 types of lighting on a tank. Two is as far as i am pushing it on this tank. What specs on a 58 do I need running a 14k MH and well anything else. What watts MH x 2 at 14K ( love the blue)? plus the secondary lighting?

You need to contact fish2morow. He is a member on this board. No better source for sps on this board IMO. If you love the blue look then just go with 20K MH bulbs. The growth rate is not as good, but it has a deep blue look. If you want a good growth rate then use 10K MH supplemented with actinics. The wattage you need will depend on how deep your tank is. Anything over 24" deep needs to be 250 watt or above. If your tank is not as deep as 24" then you could probably use 150 watt MH. You will find all the info you need here on the board. Just run a lighting requirement search.

if you like the 14k look check out phoenix bulbs. I had one running on my tank for a while and it was a nice blue with a white tinge to it. I decided it was too blue with actinics and ended up going with a 10k light for more growth as well. But, Robert would definitely be the one to ask about lighting.
