New sump issues

So I re-did my sump recently and I'm having a little problem that I haven't encountered before. The sump now has the skimmer and ca reactor on the right side, then 2 baffles, and then the return section where my gen-x pump pulls water out of the sump and returns it to the display.

For some reason, the drains on the display cause a bit of a 'rocking' motion in the return section of the sump. Not sure what is causing this, could be the skimmer, could be the 1" drop from the last baffle into the return section, but it is reaking havoc on my top-off. The float switch in the return section goes up and down, up and down, etc. This turns the PH on/off constantly. I tried to install a small section of eggcrate b/w the baffles, which helped a little, but I need a more permenant solution. I'll snap a few pictures to help out with the descriptions.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, have you thought about installing a small bottle around the bottom float switch? cut a hole in the lid big enough for the float switch mount to fit in, and cut a few smallish holes around the bottom and sides of the bottle, and screw it around the float switch. It acts as a wave and snail guard (it fills and empties slower than the water level in the sump changes.)

Thanks Scott, I hadn't thought of that. I have one that would work. I guess that will work as a temp setup until I can figure out why the sump has a wave to it.

what kind of stand pipe or the using? stockman, durso, or gurgle busters will cause a surge if the sump i the amount or air isnt adjusted correctly.

I'm using 2 megaflow dursos that came with the Oceanic. I'm not sure if it is the drains or the way that the flow into the return section of the sump.

Installing the bottle on the float switch seemed to help, but it still surges a bit.

is this a reugium or just a sump? If it is a refugium I have found that a surge will actually help the inhabitants that is i you can get your top off working correctly.

Mine does that sometimes. But not always. It looks a little wierd, to be honest. :)
