New skimmer...need suggestions

[I am about to buy a new skimmer but with my config I will have to get one the does NOT sit inside the sump. I wanted to get some recommendations on what you would buy. I know euro reef is a very good skimmer but I was under the impression you could not keep them outside your sump. Any and all opinions welcome.

Thanks]

[The single pump and double pump DAS skimmers can be used either externally or internally for maximum flexibility. Pet-O-Rama has one of the models in operation under their 200g?? display tank if you want to see it.]

[I have been running a My-Reef Creations skimmer outside of the sump from the beginning. Whatever you do if it sits outside of the sump, use a skimate collection container that when full cuts the air off to the skimmer. It will prevent some major accidents.]

[it depends on what your personal preference is - the euroreef and aquac work very well, for me, I believe the beckett design is the best way to go - you could go with a company like myreefcreations.com, triggersys.com - he is local and great to work with (check the newsletter), barraquatic.com - brent is also a terrific person to work with and will answer any of your questions. depending on what type of skimmer you have now, you could just upgrade your existing one to a beckett skimmer - add some injectors - just thoughts - good luck.]

[Thanks for the suggestions!!
I like Brents ideas and his skimmers seem to be well built.
Gerard, right now Im running skimmerless so upgrading isnt much of an option.

Thanks again]

[good luck - just take your time and do your research and you will be fine - there is no perfect skimmer, just a matter of the owner being willing to do the required maintenance.
