New Sand " how should I spread it into Tank..

I just bought a new bag of Sand for my 10Gal & it's cleaned up and ready to be put in. BUT I don't want to disturb the old bed ( not Thick enough ) or cover it up...Lost In Terrell

I have a Clown , Royal Gramma and a Blennie with some snails and a serpent star. What can I do....

Chris , the way I did it was I used a 2 in pvc and poured it slowly down the pipe into the areas I wanted to make deeper. It helps if someone is helping ( 1 person pouring other holding the pvc pipe ). It also helps from clouding the tank. Alittle at a time just dont spill the whole bag in the tank.

And to add on Albert's good advice, I wouldn't add more than 1/2" at a time per week, if you've got a DSB. This will let the critters and bacteria settle into the new layers without smothering them.

freezing it sounds pretty cool. but I would be leary of going that route on a ten gallon. with that small a tank the temp will probably drop and potentially stress the fish and/or other critters. probably be okay if done in small pieces over time - another issue if done in to large a portion would be lowering the salinity
