New rock with green hair algae

I got some rock that has a lot of zoas and Gsp, the downside is GHA. I would like to save the zoas but I don't want to introduce algae into my tank. What advice do y'all have for a newbie?

If you dont want the rock try to break the rock away from the zoas. If that cant be done then use a dremel (sp) with a diamond blade to cut the rock away. Once you do that manually remove the algae but be sure that you wear eye, mouth, and hand protection cuz zoas van be very toxic. If you have a good clean up crew then they should be able to take care of the rest of the left over hair algae

I decided I don't want to introduce any bad alge into my tank so any suggestions on how to clean it? I don't know if this is a good idea but I was thinking maybe scrubbing it to get it as clean as I can then letting it dry. I'm not sure if I let everything dry if it would be harder to clean later. Any suggestions or links will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I had one like that myself....so I covered it and kept it dark for 48 hrs and then put in in a large container that I could get both hands in and tools while keeping the frag under water. I picked all the hair algae off of it that I could get to. Then I treated the frag with a higher dose of iodine, changed the water after about 5 min soaking in iodine and then kept an eye on it so that it did not have a chance to get started again....you could also get some hair algae killer but, I didnt want to bomb the frag too much....patients will kill the pest but, it takes time. Remember NEVER put that water back in your tank...it will contain spores from the algae.

You can't doesn't matter how much time you spend algae will get into your tank. The key to success is to have low nutrients so it doesn't grow.

I've decided to scrub everything I can off the rocks and let them dry out. I feel like my tank is doing really good right now and I don't want to play with fire by introducing rock that I'm questioning. I understand algae gets into tanks in occasion but I don't want to promote it.

Dip the rock in a 50-50 mix of hydrogen peroxide/ salt water mix for 3-5 mins and place in tank. Algae will start to turn white and be gone in about a week. Will not harm Zoas, but I have not tried it on other types of corals.
