New Nano Owner in the Family

My Daughter "Melissa" purchased a "Nano-Cube" nano at Petorama in Keller. It was set up yesterday. She is having heat issues...Temp was 82.5  all day yesterday even with lights off and lids open.

Is there a secret to maintaining lower temps for the nanos? I don't want her to give up so soon. She has a little green chomis in it with live rock/sand from my tank and set it up with provided equipment.

Thanks for any advice. She said the little fans in the hood aren't working.

yea its the fans i went to the petorama in bedford and they had a nano set up and i asked them about it they said they didnt have any heat problems and they had the lid down and said the fans need to be working.

Lots of people replace the stock fans with stronger fans from a computer supply. I did it on my nano so it's easy to do. Some pumps run hotter than others too. You might have to keep the lid open in the summer and get another light. Check out www.nano-reef.com they have great solutions for nanos.
