New Member, Certified Aquatic Vet

Hello! I just attended Reefapalooza in Frisco this past weekend and learned about DFWMAS and decided to join! I am a practicing veterinarian and certified aquatic vet, however, as I’m sure y’all know, they don’t teach much about aquatics in vet school. I learned a lot from the CertAqV program (I unfortunately don’t get to see many fish patients) but I’d love to continue to learn even more from those who’ve been in the hobby/industry for a while. I’m also interested in getting into the hobby myself and I’m looking forward to eventually building my own tank in the next year or so!

Welcome! Glad you joined. I also enjoyed Reef-A-Palooza (RAP) this past weekend. RAP and Aquashella are the two largest events in DFW, and you'll find our club presence at both each year they are held here.

Like you, I also did a lot of planning and learning before I jumped in the deep end. I'm glad you are virtually here. Look forward to meeting you in the real world in the future!

Welcome! Where do you office out of? My wife and I have used a few fish vets over the years but as you know they are very hard to come by. Last I checked in October, there were only 2 in the state of Texas. Would love to have your information incase we need one in the future.

A lot of aquatic professionals and vets use The Aquarium Vet for up to date information in the field. They often travel to conferences and have workshops. https://www.theaquariumvet.com/

Hey! So sorry for the long response time, I am practicing at Cold Springs Animal Hospital in Anna, TX. Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of equipment to deal with exotics/aquatics at the moment, but if I can convince my bosses that there is enough interest and clientele, we can get more stuff. I can do basic exams and consulting and limited diagnostics though!
