I have had a taget mandarin female for the past 10 months or so. Last week, she met her new boyfriend. They spent their first 30 minutes or so together doing a cute little shaky dance, where they just quivered at each other, with her lifting up her fins showing off, and him just leaving his down, and quivering.
Then, all of a sudden, the male just chomps down on the back part of her dorsal fin. When I say chomps down I mean he held on for at least 5 minutes straight. She was just swimming around dragging him behind her.
I had to leave the house before seeing the resolution, but no one appears injured three days later. They don't hang out together, but I haven't witnessed any more biting parties.
Anyone else ever see this before? Any chance for love, or will they just avoid each other from here on out? :?:
