should I do anything like a freshwater dip or anything before adding macros to my refugium?

I'm assuming you're meaning macro-algae?

That's a tough one... Technically, it should be quarantined to look for any bad things, etc...

Realistically? I'm of the opinion the more variety of life the better, and just plop it in... And yeah, I know I'm opening myself up to nasties getting in, but in my opinion the greater diversity of life you get is worth that risk...

Fresh water dip would most likely kill a lot of the very life you're trying to add to a refuguim (Copepods, Amphipods, worms, etc)

I always assumed if it was in your refugium it was about as safe as it was going to get. Some people specifically put things that can't/won't go in there reef in there fuge. I just got mine up and running, I'm pretty excited.

Thanks guys.

I ended up plopping it in.

I did however see worms crawling on a piece of live rock that I was provided to set on top of the macro's. I FW-dipped that. All kinds of little critters were on it after seeing what died. Better safe than sorry I guess.
