Hello All,
Ive been reading around these forums for a while now, and have finally gotten my NC up and running. FWIW this is my first ever SW tank so excuse my noobness, I researched as much as possible before getting my tank, but i still have some questions. I really have fallen in love with this hobby and want to learn so much more! Hopefully everyone will be able to pass along some feedback! I have a 24g JBJ Nano Cube. 33 lbs LR 20 LBS LS. Replaced the stock pump with a mj-1200, 100w Stealth heater, koralia 1, and have modded the back chambers just a tad. I built an egg-crate shelf like structure for the first 2 chambers. The first chamber has 3 levels, the first being for filter floss, second for chemipure elite, and third for anything later on down the road. The second chamber has one layer at about the middle that will serve as a surface to place my chaeto that will be lit with an external DIY light. I just placed my LR in 2 days ago, it was bought fully cured from DNA so I am hoping for a light cycle.
I have a few problems to date that hopefully some will be able to help with. Firstly, im getting good flow in the entire tank but the return nozzle is a pain. No matter where i point it, it slightly disrupts the sand in the front right corner of the tank(when looking at it). This happens regardless of the koralia 1 being on. It disturbs it enough to create a mound and kick some up into the water column causing a SLIGHT eye sore. Is there anything I can do about this? Perhaps a new "y" nozzle?
I have found one rock to be covered in aiptasia, at least 10. I already have joe's juice in the mail, and i have heard getting a peppermint shrimp would be good. Any other ideas?
Lastly, I am having a bit of trouble maintaining my temp. Before rock and sand it held steady at 78.5(no lights). Now after rock and sand, and running the day lights for a few hours it went up to 81.5. After 24 hours of no lights its now hovering at 80.4. Im just afraid with a regular light cycle it could get up to dangerous levels. The heater was originally set to 79 when it was holding in the 70s, after the temp rise it lowered it to 75, 24 hours ago and still its at 80.5. Any advice?
Okay i'll stop talking and give you what everyone wants...pictures
