New Bright Green BTA

Hi guys,

I just got this guy last night. Drip acclimated him over the course of two hours, and added him to my display.

Just like clockwork, my pair of GSM clowns mated up with him.

Last night he was perched atop a coral head in the right corner. This morning, he has continued to crawl down the rock and into a cave/ crevice...

I have done some reading but I want to make certain I am not bombarding him with light and or current ?

Please have a look at this pic and tell me if this is expected behavior. He is one of the more expensive things I have purchased, and I LOVE his coloration so I want to make sure he's good.

All water params are good. Temp 79, PH 8.38. KH-10, Calcium 440.

So would that be the reason why he went under to some shade ?

Last night under the 130W PC's, he sat up top of the rock and just chilled there.

This morning when the halides came on at 10:00, I went in there and found him hugged under the cave, with the Clowns inside. (thats a good sign at least.)

Any particular food regimine or supplementation ?

Bill recommend I dose Sea Chem Calcium twice a week.

(7 capfuls for a 120G)

I add directly to each overflow 50/50 with tank water.....

It has trace amounts of strontium and iodine as well...

Since he's a bit transparent, I'd probably melt a cube of mysis and add some zoe or selcon, then use a turkey baster to shoot it into the nem.. maybe twice a week.

Just some patience.. A couple mysis shrimp every other day to keep him happy. I have a white BTA and two red/greenish BTAs.. The white one tends to hide under ledges and I've had him for months, but thankfully he peeks out towards the front glass. Then again he tends to run laps around the tank for no reason at all... I don't think dosing anything will do anything since they're mostly photosynthetic and meat eaters. (Your other corals might like it though)

i have had my bta for a couple of months and its not even coloring up. His gsm feeds him religiously which is cool and it has plenty of light but most every night at about 30 min to an hour before lights out it closes up. Dont know why but it keeps doing it. Then when the halide goes off it starts to open up about halfway then when the lights come on in the morning it opens up huge. Been doing this about the whole time i've had it.
