Hello Fellow Reefers,
Finally got around to purchasing & planning the setting up of my dream tank. It’s a Red Sea s-1000 g2 which will be delivered on Monday.
Currently have a 75g but won’t be moving much over except for the apex and the power heads. Will eventually tear that down and put up for sale.

Will post my build here as I make progress and will certainly reach out to the forum for some guidance !!

Thanks all! More to follow

All the equipment has arrived . Now waiting for the tank to be delivered next week to start planing for the install .

Installed the ceiling hanging kit for the radions rms rails today. Used heavy duty toggle bolt drywall anchors for those. Rated for 200+ lb. I hope it is installed correctly and will support the 50 lbs or so of lights and a future floating canopy (+ 20-30 lbs)

The question really is, can the sheetrock carry that total weight. Lights tend to be about 5 lbs each (you can measure yours first, obviously). But perhaps the canopy should be affixed to the back wall, which would be more stationary too.

Is that vent directly over the aquarium? Keep it clean so nothing drips off of it into the reef.

You could attach a small 1x2 across your studs then attach the heavy lights the the 1x2. HTH

I think the 238's are going to be fine as long as you don't lean on the lights or set something heavy on them. 👍🤟

Thanks Marc, the vent is above it but closer to the front of the tank . Will have to think about preventing any drips. Thanks for that observation. As for the lights will probably attach a stay wire to the stud on the wall as a backup incase the drywall gives after a while. I won’t be attaching the canopy on the wire as suggested and will probably attach to the wall instead . Thanks again

Thanks for the tip. Will probably attach a stay wire to the studs in the wall as a backup in case the wire hangers fail .

Tank has arrived . Lights are up. Thanks Marc & Ron for some excellent suggestions on the light hangers . Will end up adding a stay wire from the wall studs as a backup .

Now for the real work. Seems like a long road but excited to get right into it . More to follow as I start adding equipment and leak test next

Has been a while since I posted pictures. Ended up having to convert some of the plumbing to US since I could not fit my UV anywhere under the tank so had to send plumbing to the garage . Posting some new pictures . Hoping to do a leak test next weekend

Finally got my rock work done . Went for a lifted aqua scape inspired by a few videos I saw from reefers in Asia. Ready to fill some water now and do a tank & sump leak test

The Uv (55w lifeguard pro max 3” amalgam)is plumbed on the outside near my mixing station . This really delayed my tank build . I sadly cracked the Uv quartz trying to install the bulb yesterday so cannot test this side this week. Waiting for my replacement . That is off a 2nd return pump ( Sicce SDC 9.0) so will run COR-20 pump for now till that gets fixed. If anyone has run into issue with this Uv, would really love to get some tips and tricks to install the quartz properly

Tank is finally filled after a slight leak in the sump. All good now . Need start the cycling next. Also the drains are a lot louder than I imagined . A lot of tuning required to get them quiet I imagine .

Tank cycle in full swing. Added Fritz turbo start and using Dr Tim’s ammonium chloride for a fish less cycle. Was around 2ppm last night . Will post once cycled.
Planning to start off with a couple of clowns as my first fish after quarantine .Have another pair in my old tank which I will move here also ( when I break that down)Will post a list and order of stocking further down the line .

Finally added my 2 black snowflake clowns after quarantine. So far so good. Need some advice on my next few fish while I slowly get the tank established.
My tentative stocking order is attached . Was thinking wrasses maybe and the dottybacks . No sand so no sand dwelling / requiring fish in my list ( I think) :)

Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks
VT

Been a while so wanted to post some updates. Tank has been going through the ugly phase . Not been able to clean it as much due to travel and work. Added some fish from my old tank and added a new yellow tail wrasse to the tank after QT. Got a Naokos wrasse in QT now . Also added a fan and a fire HD as my apex touchscreen console . Doing daily water changes with my DOS and is working out beautifully . Corals are a long way off . Slow and steady wins it for me :)
