Need to catch a sailfin

Added a powder blue and the sailfin is being ruthless. Want to our him in my sump until the PBt gets settled in

Sorry to hear - hopefully someone will come back with a trap you can borrow. I've previously used a 2-liter bottle trap which is pretty easy to make, but a sailfin would be too big for that.

In the meantime, you could keep your lights turned off to try and minimize any aggression. Good luck!

I am in hurst. I have a large custom made fish trap. I have used it a lot to catch larger fish and have lent to lfs to catch fish from their display. You can borrow it

thanks fusion.. I am going to see how he's acting today when I get home from work. If he is still being a jerk-face I will contact you tonight around 6 if that's okay.

Looks like its much better. There's still some chasing but it has subsided dramatically. He was even allowed to come out and eat!

i caught a damsel the other day by taking a piece of egg crate (lighting diffuser) and making a triangle in a corner leaving one side open then using my turkey baster feeder began feeding within the triangle luring the damsel in then closed the triangle to catch him, while hold it flush against the corner I got a net in and got him out.

so if you have a piece laying around and the space in a corner this can work

Thanks for the advise. Standard sailfin. He's about 3 inches but he sure is bossy. The PBT is starting to gain some confidence. Looks like he is showing that he indeed will be the boss.

We have a desjardini sailfin. It can be very aggressive to other fish. We had a powder brown that we thought was the bully. So we got rid of it. I wish we had gotten rid of the sailfin instead. Beautiful fish. But is a bully in my tank. Once it outgrows our 175 gallon we probably won't get another.
